NRCS Makes Conservation Plans for 2009
November 18 2008
The USDA NRCS is the agency charged with working with private landowners on private lands to voluntarily protect the natural resources that play such an important role in securing our nations future.
Since 1935, the Natural Resources Conservation Service (originally called the Soil Conservation Service) has provided leadership in a partnership effort to help America's private land owners and managers conserve their soil, water, and other natural resources.
NRCS employees provide technical assistance based on sound science and suited to a customer's specific needs. We provide financial assistance for many conservation activities. Participation in NRCS programs is voluntary.
Following planning meetings, TN State Conservationist Kevin Brown and management staff took time to learn more about the rich Melungeon heritage of the region with a tour by Claude Collins of the Vardy Historical Society and evening fishing on the beautiful Clinch River.
And yes,the fish were biting! Check out the photo gallery for more photos of the NRCS retreat at Clinch River Conservation Center & Retreat.
